Teaser Tuesday: Gunshot Road by Adrian Hyland

I read and thoroughly enjoyed the first novel featuring Emily Tempest (which was called Diamond Dove*) a couple of years ago. I have been meaning to read this book ever since it first came out. Now, finally, I am actually reading it, and I have a feeling it is going to be one of those books that I need to ask myself what was I waiting for!

I have it on good authority that Hyland manages to capture remote outback life very well, which can sometimes be a bit hit and miss in literature.

My teaser comes from page 150:
Cockburn's new toy: I shivered, examined the Cruiser nervously. A bush bash through the toughest terrain in the world was perhaps not what he'd had in mind when he gave me the keys.
*Depending on where you live Diamond Dove might have been published under the title Moonlight Downs.

Teaser Tuesday is hosted by Miz B at Should Be Reading. Head on over to find out all about it, and how to join in!

  3. Hi Marge,

Knowing nothing about this author, I would not have had any idea what the book was about from your teaser lines, which is great.

When I found the synopsis, it all became clear and this is definitely a book worth considering the read.

I would be interested to see how an Australian author tackles the crime genre.

Second, the teaser sounds interesting, however, I don't think I have ever heard of this series. May have to see if my library may have the book.

  14. Is bush bashing like bush whacking, only in a car? If so, I'll have to remember that.

  19. Hmm, very interesting! I had to read "bush bash" twice - the alliteration and slang combo confused me!

  30. Howdy! I know this is somewhat off topic but I was
wondering which blog platform are you using for this site?
I'm getting sick and tired of Wordpress because I've
had problems with hackers and I'm looking at alternatives for another platform.
I would be great if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.
