Well, I did have a good weekend....
I had a fabulous weekend away, and then, well, then I got home.
It appears that I have yet again had unwelcome visitors in my home. I now have a broken lock on my back security screen, plus a broken window in my son's room. This goes with the broken lock on my front door from a few weeks ago. Not sure if I mentioned this when it happened or not.
Nothing stolen as far as I can tell, which again, makes me think it is kids, especially seeing as whoever was here had time to sit around and have a couple of drinks out of my fridge and leave the empty containers lying around on my kitchen counter.
Waiting for the police to arrive now because this is now the fourth or fifth incident in the last six months.
When I spoke to the police earlier they suggested that it sounded like stalkerish behaviour and asked if I have an unrequited love anywhere! If that was the case all they would have to do is knock on the door rather than do damage all the time.

Marg, that is terrible! I can't believe it's happened so many times. You may have to install a security alarm.
How awful. Such a terrible feeling to have people break in to your home and even worse to have it happen more than once.

That sounds so scary!!! I don't know how to explain it, but I think it sounds scarier than someone breaking in "just" to steal computers and dvds. Ugghh. Take care and get that security system.

Yes, definitely get a security system, if you can. You need some peace of mind.
It does sound like kids to me too. Idiots. Maybe something like a motion detector triggered outside light would dissuade them.
Wow Marg - that is terrible that it's happened again. I'm glad that didn't take anything, but I'm sure the feeling of some weirdos being in your home (and making themselves at home from the sounds of it) is rather creepy. Take care and definately check into that security alarm!
ohmigoodness! That is terrifying. Maybe you should get motion detector lights or something? I don't really have any suggestions... pepper spray? Hope it ends SOON!
Holy shit Marg! You sound o calm and reasonable in this post. We were broken into once years ago and it is the creepiest feeling. I was paranoid for months and months.
I hope the authorities can get to the bottom of this business because it's pretty scary stuff.

Oh, Marg, that's horrible. I agree that it does sound like kids, but do take care. I'm sure getting some sort of security system must be a pain in the ass, but it's probably necessary at this point (although I do like the idea of booby traps!)
OMG Marg, that's terrible, and to have it happen so many times is so stressful for you and your family. Kids or not, it's an awful worry, any chance you can get a security system or a big dog? Thinking of you.
Oh my goodness, Marg! That's awful!! Having your home broken into like that is such a violating feeling. I can't imagine having it happen so many times in a row! I hope the police catch the buggers and they're punished severely.
Marg this is scary. Please be extra careful. Don't go into you home if you see its been broken into. So can the police do anything? And I agree with the other posters here, get a security system.

That is really weird and scary! I hope they find out who it is soon, I wouldn't be able to get a good night's sleep if that was happening to me.
Wow Marg, I'm just getting caught up on all this. Scary! I do hope the police are paying attention, and that they find whoever this is. Is it within your budget to add a security system to the house? I don't know that it would help, but SOMETHING has to. I'll keep you in my prayers ...
How awful Marg. Having had a stalker and more recently having had someone brealing into my vehicle on a weekly basis (like your situation they didn't take anything and I later learned it was vagrants taking a nap in my vehicle while I worked), I feel your frustration. You really should look into getting a security system or something comparable. With my vehicle, it was old and finally died so when I got a new one I made sure it had an alarm. And with the stalker situation I was lucky to have friends on the police force and therefore had more protection than most. Either situation should not be taken likely. It does sound like it's someone you know or who knows you because they know when you won't be home. I don't know how old your son is, but it may be someone who goes to school with or knows. The best advice I can think of to offer, especially if your like me and money is tight, make sure you don't broadcast when you will be gone, have a trusted neighbor check your house when you are gone and get timers for various lights so that it will look like you are home when you are not, and make sure you change the times so that it doesn't establish a pattern.
I'm so sorry, it's very scary coming home to a house that's been broken into. My sister had a similar incident several years ago and she's still paranoid about it.
That is craziness! I am glad that nothing was stolen and that no damage was done, but I can understand that this is a huge and scary problem for you. Perhaps an alarm might be needed, or maybe you can get a neighbor to keep an eye on your place when you are away. I think the most important thing to do is to never let your house look like no one is home for long periods of time, and never let anyone know you will be away. I am sure you have had all these ideas already, so I don't mean to sound like I am giving you a lecture. I am really sorry you are going through this, and I hope it's resolved soon.

This is awful Marg. Have you thoughtof getting a monitored alarm system. Here, you can get one installed free if you agree to so many months of monitoring. It's about $25 per month but I think it is worthwhile.
